There are a variety of reasons your Knocki device(s) may lose its internet connection. By reviewing the possible causes below, you should be able to identify the reason your Knocki can’t connect and re-establish a connection.
Network Issues
Internet Connection is Down
If the internet connection that your Knocki uses is down, Knocki will not be able to communicate with your account nor respond to gestures.
WiFi signal stops being broadcast
If the wireless router to which Knocki connects is turned off or stops broadcasting a WiFi signal, Knocki will be unable to connect.
WiFi signal is weak or out-of-range
If Knocki is out-of-range of the WiFi signal, the connection may be lost. Causes include mounting Knocki too far away from the wireless router or certain physical barriers such as thick metal between Knocki and the router.
WiFi Network credentials have changed
Knocki connects to a specific WiFi network. If the name of the network (also known as “SSID”) has changed, or the password to the WiFi network has changed, Knocki will not connect. If the network credentials that you’d like Knocki to connect to have changed, you may update your Knocki by going to the “change network” option under your Knocki settings in the app and following the in-app instructions.
See "Change Network" for more details.
WiFi Network credentials are unknown
Knocki can not connect to WiFi networks that it does not know. You must follow the in-app instructions to connect Knocki to a network for which you are able to provide credentials.
Knocki device issues
Knocki does not know the necessary WiFi network credentials.
Knocki must be added to an existing user account, and then connected to a WiFi internet connection via the in-app instructions. If Knocki has been hard reset, it will forget all known WiFi networks and must be re-connected.
See "Reconnect Network" for more details.
Battery Life is critical
Critically low batteries will prevent Knocki from establishing a connection.
Knocki is turned off
Knocki must be powered on to establish a connection.
